We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm at the Whitfield County Courthouse. You are invited to attend and hopefully join and become an active member. We discuss current events, have guest speakers, and undertake projects which will improve both our community and our local government. We are committed to electing more Republicans at the local, State, and National level. We encourage you to contact us with any questions you might have. Box 1612 Rocky Face, Georgia 3074       Whitfield County’s “GOP Central” will hold Grand Opening September 11, 2008       The Whitfield County Republican Party will open the doors to their new campaign headquarters on Monday, September 15th at 11:00 AM.     “GOP Central” is located at 1215 W. Walnut Avenue, at the corner of Dug Gap Road and Walnut Avenue. The office hours for the month of September will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM., however, beginning in October the headquarters will be open each day of the week, including Saturdays.     Grand Opening festivities, along with the Whitfield GOP 'Road to Victory' Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 1:00 PM at the “GOP Central” headquarters.     Volunteers are needed and appreciated. Anyone seeking to volunteer at the headquarters may contact the office manager, Judy McNelley, via email at the themcnelleys@optilink.us or sign up at the headquarters.     For more information regarding the Grand Opening or regarding the Whitfield County Republican Party, please contact the Party via email at whitfieldgop@hotmail.com, or Party Chairman, David Blackburn at dtblaw@hotmail.com.     Whitfield GOP Announcement: July 2, 2008 Many of you are very familiar with Earl Ball. One of the small few who was involved in the development of the Whitfield County Republican Party and he has been instrumental in building the party over the past decades. He is one of the greatest men of character that Whitfield County/Dalton has ever known and he has been a blessing to all who have had the privilege to know him.   I found out this evening that Earl suffered a severe stroke on Wednesday of last week. I went to the hospital and I spoke with his son and he told me, as of Thursday morning, they didn't give him much of a chance to overcome his condition and things had turned for the worse. However, Friday morning things began to turn in his favor and he has been improving over the weekend. He is now alert and speaking, but still very weak. He is currently in Room 2113 at Hamilton Medical Center, but he may be moved as soon as Thursday to begin his rehabilitation. I am not absolutely sure, but I believe his son told me that will be going to Quinton Memorial Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, here in Dalton.   Earl has been a blessing to us all. Please keep he and his family in your prayers. King Street, Dalton, GA. (Across the street from the Entrance to the Courthouse)   The participating Republican candidates who are seeking the office of Whitfield County Sheriff are   Claude Nix and Paul Tipton.   The meeting is free and open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.       For additional information, please visit our web site at www.whitfieldgop.org   Qualifying over: large slate of candidates announced - May 4, 2008 24 Republicans From Staff Reports Dalton Daily Citizen Rick Tanner, former executive director of the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center, qualified to run for chairman of the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners as a Republican on Friday, the final day of qualifying, but not without some controversy. Tanner was out of town and local GOP officials accepted his qualification form based on an affidavit from people on his behalf. They said the qualification is subject to verification by the state party. Tanner resigned as trade center executive director in March.
