Many thanks to Lurline Argo, Chairman of the Pickens County Republican Party, and all the members who work
ed to make this event a success.  They have hosted this event for the past ten years and always do a superb job! To learn more about the Pickens County GOP, visit their web site.

Following the District Committee meeting at 10:30, delicious barbeque with all the trimmings was served to the Republicans and their families. The attendance this year was down since the Governor was in nearby Gordon County where many of our members and elected officials were attending.  Also, our State Representatives were in a meeting in Atlanta on this date.

Fun and good Republican fellowship was the order of the day. Following lunch several candidates and elected officials spoke:

John Oxendine, our GA Commissioner of Insurance, addresses the group and asks for everyone's support since he does have Democrat opposition in November. Second and third Photo: District Chairman Judy Grammer and John.  Looks like John has stopped kissing the babies and is now kissing the ladies ;- )

Left Photos 1: Herman Clark, candidate for Superior Court Judge for Fannin, Gilmer & Pickens Counties asks the voters for their support. Center: Senator Chip Pearson of Dawsonville speaks to the group. He has no Democrat opposition in November. Right: Lee Hawkins of Hall County, Candidate for 49th District Seat (center) with wife Sharon and Sen. Chip Pearson. Hugh Geeslin of Dawson County on right. Lt. Governor candidate, Casey Cagle, was there earlier before the event started.

Right: Silent Auction Begins

Below: Fred Bowers, Vice Chairman for Fundraising for the Pickens GOP
calls out the winners in the silent auction.

Below are some of the many interesting items auctioned off following the picnic:

Left to right: chess set, flag silk scarves, eagle and hand made quilt -- far right is flag which has flown over the capitol in Washington, D.C. donated by Sen. Isakson. These are just a few of the auction items.

Above: original painting by local artist -- Mary Ellen Childree (center) was one of the many auction winners. Ardis McCain (right) of Pickens was also one of the silent auction winners.
