By Greg Bluestein - Associated Press WriterDULUTH - A presidential candidate and another potential candidate used the Georgia Republican Convention as a staging ground Friday to air complaints about a Senate compromise on immigration reform.
Presidential hopeful and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said the compromise is flawed because it makes it too easy for illegal immigrants to continue to live in this country, while former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich called the plan a citizenship "giveaway."
"These inherited bureaucracies do not work," said Gingrich, a Republican who has toyed with the idea of running. Read the rest of the story. . .

9th District Committee Meeting
Immediately following the State Convention the full District Committee met in Room 2A. A number of routine and special changes were made to the District Rules. These will be posted on our web site soon on the News/Events/ Resources page under the top of District Rules.
Joshua Kinsey of Cleveland was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms for the district.
Paul Stanley of Hall County was appointed Parliamentarian.

ATTENTION 9th DISTRICT REPUBLICANS: Be proud of the 9th District Republican Party.
The 9th District is pre-ordering royal blue polo shirts that will have “9th District GOP” embroidered on
the front. We expect a large number of people who will want to order the shirts. The shirts will cost between $20 and $22.00 (that includes tax).
